Summer Weekends + Lovely Links

Last weekend I fell down a couple of rabbit holes and it was the perfect way to spend one of the few remaining summer weekends. One rabbit hole came with the discovery of Bullet Journaling and the other, an off-shoot because so many Bullet Journal bloggers talk about it, the KonMari Method of organizing. Both promise to be completely life-changing for me. I’ll most certainly write more about each of these later but for the uninitiated, the KonMari Method was popularized in the bestselling book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. I purposefully refused to read the book when everyone was yammering about it. One, because I’m a contrarian by nature and two, I figured it was just another ‘this book will change your life’ trap and I didn’t want to hear it. But true to its title, it is a life-changer and I have the organized bureau to prove it.

Mind you, I haven’t read a word of the book yet, I’ve gotten all this magic from YouTube videos! I did reserve the book on the all new New York Public Library app and will begin reading as soon as it’s available. I’m also borrowing Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time because there’s only so much Real Housewives one can watch without going totally daft.

Summer Weekends + Lovely Links

Believe it or not, there are still some places in New York City that are underdeveloped. I recently took a lovely day cruise with my family but we were shocked to see how dilapidated the pier was. Located in Queens, the pier is part of The World’s Fair Marina and it looks like it hasn’t been touched since New York hosted The World’s Fair in 1964. But there’s hope on the horizon. Fast Company is reporting that The World’s Fair site could become New York’s next Highline. Here’s hoping because it’s certainly ripe for the picking! Until then, you can still catch a ferry, go kayaking, canoeing and powerboating. Yay, fun on the water!

I found this helpful hack for drying your makeup brushes that speeds the process and protects your brushes from water damage.

Are you a Big Thinker? It turns out that people who hate working out (ahem) are more brainy. But if you’d like to combine your brains with a little brawn every now and again, one of my new favorite style bloggers, Psyche Southwell of Economy of Style, found some super cute sneakers for bouncing around town. I want to buy them and wear them every day.

Don’t want to spend your summer weekends bouncing around and would rather get your fit on in a controlled environment? Yoga Download is offering 40% off sitewide for streaming yoga classes through August 17 and 50% off elite memberships through August 31. Strike a few poses at home or wherever you are with the wildly convenient Yoga Download app. I introduced Yoga Download in a post last week and next I’m going to try the Chakra Series. I’m not afraid to say that I’m a little scared but I’m going for it. I will report back.

That’s all for now my lovely and as always, thanks for hanging out with me. If you’re planning to beat the heat by doing a little shopping this weekend, check out my brand new Shop Page on Amazon that features of-the-moment sales for beauty, style and home. I search so you don’t have to. Cheers!
